T-Cards, Subway, and Taxis
Before leaving to Korea, I was like, "NO!!!!! I won't have my car with me!!!!" It's been about a month since I got here and I don't miss my 8 cylinder car anymore. I have walked more in one day in Seoul than I have my whole life!!! Okay maybe I am exaggerating, but it sure seems like it. It's actually so much better and easier to walk, take a taxi, or take a bus to reach your destination. Public transportation in Seoul is super efficient and very clean. Too bad I can't say that about LA's public transportation. It is also super cheap!!!!!! Everything costs about $1.00.
The one thing you will definitely need to get as soon as you get to Korea is a "T-Card." The T-Card is what is used to pay for the bus, taxi, subway, etc. You can even use it in some places to pay for stuff. It's basically like a money card.
This is where you can get one. It looks like this.
There are two forms of the T-Card.
You can either have the charm that goes on your cell-phone or the one that is an actual card.
AT THE MENU, YOU WILL BE ASKED WHAT KIND YOU WANT SO JUST CHOOSE.
You will click where it says, "Get a Transit Card." YOU WILL THEN CLICK ON WHAT TYPE OF CARD. CHOOSE THE ONE THAT READS ,"ADULT CARD." You will then be prompted to choose EITHER A phone charm or the card. Choose one and wait for a bit. It will then tell you that it will be 3,000 Won, which is about 3 bucks. You then follow the directions and insert the money. Pick up you T-Card and then you are done.
You can also reload the cards whenever you need by doing the following.
Place it in the opening shown above.
Then click where it says "Reloading the transit card."
It will then ask how much money you want to put in the card. *By the way, the machine is touch screen* Click the amount and wait for a bit. It will then let you know your previous balance and your current balance. You are now done.
WHEN USING TO PAY FOR THE SUBWAY, YOU JUST NEED TO TAP IT ON THE FOLLOWING THING.
