KOREA VS. HONDURAS SOCCER GAME
ON MARCH 25, 2011, KOREA PLAYED HONDURAS AT THE WORLD CUP STADIUM IN SEOUL. THE STADIUM WAS HUGE!!!!!!! I AM NOT A FAN OF SOCCER, WELL I AM NOT A FAN OF WATCHING SPORTS. I ALMOST DIDN'T GO, BUT I DECIDED TO TAG ALONG AND SEE WHAT ALL THE HYPE WAS ABOUT. KOREANS REALLY LOVE TO CHEER!!! I GOT SO INTO THE GAME AND STARTED CHEERING. I STARTED MAKING UP WORDS BECAUSE I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY WERE CHEERING SO I WOULD YELL THINGS THAT SOUNDED LIKE WHAT THEY WERE SAYING. THE ONLY ONE I WAS ABLE TO "MASTER" WAS "TAE HA MINGUK!!!!" IT WAS REALLY COOL TO SEE HOW PASSIONATELY KOREANS CHEER FOR THEIR TEAMS.
EVEN AFTER THE GAME, WE WERE ALL PUMPED UP AND BEGAN CHEERING INSIDE THE SUBWAY. I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA DIE!!!! YOU REALLY AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE SO LOUD INSIDE THE SUBWAY, BUT WE WERE JUST SO EXCITED. WE WERE LUCKY ENOUGH THAT A COUPLE OF OLDER KOREANS STARTED TO TALK TO US AND BEGAN CHEERING WITH US. THEY SEEMED EXCITED THAT FOREIGNERS WERE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT CHEERING FOR "THE RED DEVILS."
WHILE AT THE STADIUM, SOME PEOPLE WERE SELLING THESE RED HORNS THAT LIT UP. I THOUGHT THEY LOOKED COOL AND BOUGHT SOME FOR 2 BUCKS. I LATER FOUND OUT THAT THEY SOLD DEVIL HORNS BECAUSE THE KOREAN TEAM GOES BY THE NAME OF "THE RED DEVILS." PRETTY INTERESTING. I EVEN BOUGHT A RED JERSEY TO SUPPORT THE KOREAN TEAM. FIRST TIME SEEING THEM PLAY AND I AM NOW A FAN!!!!
TIME WENT BY SO FAST THAT I WISH THEY HAD PLAYED ANOTHER GAME. I HAVE SEEN SOME SOCCER MATCHES AND WANTED TO DIE FROM BOREDOM AND EVERY SECOND SEEMED LIKE AN ETERNITY. I WAS REALLY GLAD THIS WASN'T THE CASE FOR THE SOCCER MATCH AGAINST KOREA. KOREA BEAT HONDURAS 4-1. IT WAS PRETTY COOL, BUT I FELT BAD FOR HONDURAS. I AM MEXICAN, SO I WAS LIKE "OMG!!! I SHOULD BE CHEERING FOR MY FELLOW SPANISH SPEAKERS!!!" OH WELL, KOREA WAS AWESOME AND I HAD A BLAST. MAKE SURE YOU GUYS GO TO A SOCCER MATCH. IT IS SO MUCH FUN AND INEXPENSIVE. THE TICKETS WERE ABOUT $20 AND SOUVENIERS WERE PRETTY CHEAP. LIKE I SAID, THE HORNS WERE $2, THE SHIRT WAS $10 AND YOU GET A FREE BANDANA, THE SCARVES WERE $10, AND FOOD WAS CHEAP IF YOU BOUGHT IT BEFORE ENTERING THE STADIUM. INSIDE THE STADIUM WAS BIT PRICY. A SMALL BOX OF CHICKEN WAS ABOUT $12, BUT THE REST OF THE STUFF WAS DECENTLY PRICED.
